You never know who you'll meet when touring Wisconsin

It was Super Senior Day at the Vernon County Fair, and the Senior Citizens Building was hopping with contests, a program about styles through the decades and a presentation by Lucy Stone, a prominent orator, abolitionist and suffragist, who lectured and organized in Wisconsin in the late nineteenth century. Visitors to the building voted on best quilt, best painting, best floral arrangement and other items. The Vernon Co Unit on Aging invited the Gear Up to Vote project and we appreciate the opportunity to attend the fair. When it came time for the League of Women Voters to speak, we reminded them that they will only have one chance to vote for President, Congress and the State Legislature this fall and they should not miss it! People stopped by the League table to ask questions. Thanks go to members of LWV La Crosse Area for answering them! It was great to learn that everyone who stopped by was planning to vote. The Unit on Aging felt that the program was enhanced by our presentations, and the attendees valued the information they received about voting.
